Aston Martin DBX turns out to be a masterstroke of the brand

The arrival of the Aston Martin DBX may have been difficult for fans of the brand to accept, but it could just be that it secures the future of Aston Martin. The SUV sells like crazy compared to the other models.

Aston Martin has not had it easy in recent years, with huge losses and a model range that has not led to the sales numbers that the British would have liked. Last year, the brand’s first SUV came on the market, which should change that. For now, that seems to work. Aston Martin announces the sales figures for Q3 and it turns out: 2,186 units of the DBX have already been sold this year, all other models are good for less than 2,100 cars. More than half of all newly sold Aston Martins are therefore a DBX.

This also pushes the total sales number up enormously compared to last year. Aston Martin sold 1,555 cars up to and including the third quarter of 2020, this year there have already been 4,250 during the same period. An increase of no less than 173 percent. Of course not everything can be attributed to the DBX, but of course that is where the bulk of the growth is. Last year Aston Martin sold only 345 DBXs, of course because the model was not yet available for the full year. Due to the success, there is also some money hanging on the bow: Aston Martin reports converted €84 million in income before tax, whereas last year it was a loss of more than €137 million.

There is more positive news about Aston Martin as production of the Valkyrie has finally started. The first hypercar will be delivered to its lucky owner sometime in the coming weeks. Incidentally, none other than Max Verstappen is also on the customer list.
