Nio presents Tesla Model 3 competitor this week

The Chinese Nio is about to show a very important model to the world. Coming Saturday, the curtain will almost certainly go down on an ET5-christened sedan, which aims its arrows at cars such as the Tesla Model 3 and the new BMW i3.

Nio is working hard on the road. In its home country China, the brand has already become very big with fully electric cars and has now also landed in Europe. AutoWeek was recently able to drive the Nio ES8, a fully electric SUV that should make it all the way in Europe and that will probably also come our way. However, Nio does not only focus on SUVs, the impressive ET7 is proof of that. You can broadly see it as a competitor to the Tesla Model S, although CEO William Li indicated at the unveiling of that model that he prefers to see Nio as a ‘premium brand’ and Tesla is not, according to him. According to him, you should see the ET7 more as an alternative to Audis, BMWs and Mercedes.

Whichever way you look at it, it’s been in the air for a while that a little brother of the ET7 is in the barrel. Although we are somewhat against Nio’s hair, it logically becomes an alternative to the Tesla Model 3. Or, as Nio prefers it, the upcoming BMW i3. That car can be seen in the teaser photo above and almost certainly listens to the name ET5. The ET5 will be shown to the general public on December 18, so next Saturday. We are curious.
