Thieves steal cars with AirTags: protect your car
One thing is certain that the Apple AirTags are very useful. But the fact that they are now also used for less legal purposes is … less pleasant. An American also found out when he received a notification on his iPhone about an unknown AirTag. He let the tracker play a sound and saw that an unknown tracker was hidden under his (newly new) car. The tracker’s owners probably planned to follow the car and wait for the right moment to steal the car.
This isn’t the only time it happened as another car had an AirTag between the driver’s seat and the center panel. This turned out to be a car that had already been stolen once. The thieves were probably planning to perform the whole trick again and steal the car again. There are now at least five other cases known in which an AirTag was used to steal a car.
Find unknown AirTags on iPhone and Android
Early versions of iOS 15.2 included a feature that could help you find out if you were carrying (or nearby) a tracker. This feature was in the Find My app and was called ‘Objects that can track me’. In the final release of iOS 15.2, the feature is gone. It is also unknown if it will ever return. Fortunately, if there is an unknown AirTag near you, there is another way to find out.
Automatic notification unknown AirTag on iPhone
When you come close to an unknown tracker with an iPhone, you automatically receive a notification that one has been found. You then have to be extra careful and check whether an AirTag is hidden somewhere. Use the option to have the unknown AirTag play a sound and you’ll find it in no time.

Do you have an Android phone? Then you need Apple’s official Tracker Direct from the Google Play Store use. Not only can you track down the AirTag with this app, you can also find compatible trackers from other manufacturers with it.
