Nothing, the new brand of OnePlus founder Carl Pei, will be launched this summer with a smartphone. The Nothing phone (1) runs on Android with its own skin: Nothing OS.
The rumors that Nothing will also produce smartphones have been around since its inception. Founder Carl Pei has gained the necessary experience in this area as co-founder of the tech brand OnePlus. Nothing, which is financed by investors and based in London, allows the company to set its own course. Something that Pei had less freedom in with OnePlus, since OnePlus falls under parent company BBK Electronics, which sets the course for all its brands, including Realme and Oppo.
nothing smartphone
The smartphone will be named Nothing phone (1) (unfortunately no PeiPhone) and will be officially unveiled this summer. It is already known that the smartphone will be equipped with a Qualcomm chipset. Unfortunately, it was not told which chipset it is and in which price range the smartphone falls.
Nothing OS, the Android skin of the smartphone, should leave the Android base intact as much as possible. OnePlus also used this strategy with the first generation of smartphones, which made the skin (OxygenOS) very popular. A first preview of Nothing OS will be released in April.
Building hype
By breaking the news into the world, the brand tries to build hype for the upcoming smartphone. The news value is mainly in the fact that Nothing will be making smartphones.
This marketing strategy was also used in the launch of the first product: the Nothing Ear(1). These wireless in-ears appeared on the market a year ago and came out well in our test. For thanks to the unique (transparent) design and competitive price-quality ratio.
Unfortunately, it is not yet known whether these features are extended to the Phone(1).
