WhatsApp no longer works on these old iPhones
WhatsApp has stopped supporting some old iPhones. That’s because the chat service now only works on iOS 12 and higher. This means that you can no longer use WhatsApp on the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c. They are stuck on iOS 11.
The iPhone 5s is lucky, because it still has iOS 12 as its operating system. So on that you can still use WhatsApp. That means this is the oldest iPhone on which WhatsApp still works.
It is of course a pity that WhatsApp support for old iPhone models is ending, but for good reason. Of course, it becomes quite inconvenient for WhatsApp to have to update the app for every iOS version. Also, not all features will work on every iOS version.
Too Old iPhone for WhatsApp: Time to Upgrade!
Are you still using an iPhone 5 or an iPhone 5c? Then it’s really time to switch. Of course you don’t have to buy a brand new iPhone 14 right away, because they are quite pricey.
But if you’re looking for a good and affordable iPhone, you can consider the iPhone SE 2022. It has a similar appearance to the iPhone 5(c) and still has Touch ID. The iPhone SE 2022 also has a brand new chip under the hood. This is the same chip as in the iPhone 13, with which you can continue to use WhatsApp (and other apps) for years to come.
