An all-new Mac mini with M4 is coming – here’s what you need to know
According to usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to release a new Mac mini. This Mac mini will then have an M4 or an M4 Pro chip. At the moment, the latest iPad Pro is the only Apple product with an M4. The new Mac mini will then appear sometime later this year.
The new Mac mini will be the first major redesign of the small computer since 2010. According to rumors, the new Mac mini can be compared to the dimensions of an Apple TV, but a bit taller than the current model. The casing will be made of aluminum as usual. Insiders who have worked on the device say that it is actually a kind of iPad Pro, but then in a small box.
Apple reportedly has equipped the new Mac minis with at least three USB-C ports on the back. There is also a connector for the power cable and one for the HDMI port.
In addition, it seems that there will be two versions of the Mac mini. The standard version of the Mac mini will get the M4 chip, which is also in the current iPad Pro. The other has an M4 Pro chip, which is even a bit faster. The standard model is rumored to be heading to stores sometime this month. The version with the faster chip will take a bit longer.
Now that the M4 chip is coming to more Apple devices, rumor has it that for the first time, Apple plans to use the same chip in every iteration of the Mac. There are also M4 versions of the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro on the way. But we’ll have to wait a little longer for that one…
