Alpine A110 new official car French highway police

Alpine A110

The French highway police will receive a series of special new official cars. A number of officers will be patrolling the French highways by Alpine A110.

The French highway police now mainly use Renault’s Mégane RS of the previous generation. However, they are now starting to age and so it is time for another means of transport that is smooth enough to keep up with the most savvy criminals. The French Ministry of the Interior announces that it is opting for the Alpine A110, reports AD.nl. 26 units have been ordered from Alpine.

The A110s in question will of course get the necessary gadgets on board that the police need and of course they also get the police stripes and a flashing light. In terms of performance, the Alpine A110 is in any case an upgrade compared to the Méganes RS, which was put into use 11 years ago. Normally you sprint with an A110 at its fastest from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and you can continue up to 250 km/h. We wouldn’t be surprised if the latter is stretched a bit to keep up with the fastest fugitives.

Alpine will supply police A110s for the next four years. So it probably won’t stay with the 26 copies that have now been ordered. We are only curious how the arrested people want to bring them to the office with the A110. A detainee van will probably have to be called in after all. Incidentally, it is not the first time that the gendarmerie hit the highway with Alpines. It already did that with the primal Alpine A110 in the 1960s.
