Google Recently presented lightweight smart glasses with Gemini integration and an optional display in the lens. The presentation has again fueled the interest in an Apple Glass (smart glasses from Apple). That is why we give you an overview of the state of affairs.
Apple is actively working on new chips that are specially designed for smart glasses that have to compete with the XR glasses of Google and the smart Ray-Ban glasses from Meta. According to Mark Gurman Van Bloomberg is aiming for mass production in 2026 or 2027. That means a possible launch within the next two years.

The smart glasses that Apple is developing will reportedly contain several cameras, microphones and integrated AI functionality, similar to the smart Ray-Ban glasses of Meta. The Apple Glass probably supports functions such as taking photos, recording videos and offering translation options. Possibly Apple integrates a visual intelligence-like function with which carriers can scan their environment, request product information and get instructions.
The adapted chip that Apple develops for these glasses is based on that of the Apple Watch. Those chips use less energy than those in iPhones. Apple is said to have already implemented optimisations to improve energy efficiency for this application.
According to Gurman, it takes many years before real AR glasses are ready, because various techniques have to be perfected. Think of displays with a high resolution, powerful chips and small batteries that are powerful enough to use for a day. But a less ambitious smart glasses from Apple are coming. Based on the current information, we expect the Apple Glass to be on the market at the earliest in 2026 or 2027.
