Apple will already present iOS 19 in more than a month and, according to a newly surfaced rumor support for several new AI models from third parties. This rumor comes from a remarkable source, namely the CEO of Google: Sundar Pichai.
According to Bloomberg Did he say that he hopes to close a deal with Apple about built-in Gemini integration on iPhones halfway through this year. He would have had a series of conversations with Apple CEO Tim Cook about the integration of Google Gemini on iPhones last year. Pichai shared this information in court, during the current antitrust case of the US Department of Justice against Google.
Gemini and Chatgpt
Apple is expected to announce iOS 19 during the annual developer conference WWDC, which will start on Monday 9 June. So that is roughly corresponding to the moment that Pichai has mentioned (halfway through this year). It therefore seems likely that iOS 19 will indeed offer support for AI models such as Google Gemini, assuming that a deal will be reached. iOS 19 will probably be released for the general public in September.
iPhones with Apple Intelligence have been equipped with chatgpt integration since iOS 18.2. This allows Siri to immediately show chatgpt answers as an answer to questions and other prompts. Chatgpt is also an option for the Apple Writing Tools function, with which users can generate text and images.
