During the Apple event of 9 September 2025, the new Apple Watch SE will probably be shown. But some rumors now think that it will not be Apple Watch SE at all, but that Apple will give the affordable smartwatch a different name. It would not be the Apple Watch SE 3 or Apple Watch SE 2025, but the Apple Watch 11th.

That Apple may be going to implement a name change is not very strange at all. The iPhone SE 2022 also received a successor in 2025, but that was not the iPhone SE 2025. Instead we got the iPhone 16th. It would therefore be quite possible that Apple will continue this naming on their entire budget line.

Even if we look at the upgrades we expect at the new Apple Watch SE of Apple Watch 11th, it seems that Apple will also say goodbye to the older look of the model. Just like the iPhone 16th that no longer uses the old iPhone SE look, the new price-conscious Apple Watch will also change on the outside and the inside.

Affordable Apple Watch with newest chip

The next Apple Watch SE 3 gets quite a big freshening up. The most important renewal is the S11 chip. For comparison: the current SE model is still running on the S8 chip, based on the A13 Bionic. The S11 chip is expected to use the same processor that is in the S9 or S10 chip, and with that the SE 3 or Apple Watch 11th uses a chip based on the A16 Bionic (which is in the iPhone 15, among others).

But there is more, because according to rumors, the next affordable Apple Watch also gets new screen sizes. The screen then becomes 1.6 inches and 1.8 inches, depending on the model. That would mean that Apple finally says goodbye to the old design from the time of the Apple Watch Series 4. And that is why the SE 3 or Apple Watch 11th will come closer to the Apple Watch Series 7 in terms of looks.
