Apple has released the first test version of iOS 18.4! These new functions come to your iPhone with iOS 18.4 beta 1 (not yet).
iOS 18.4 Beta 1
The first test version of iOS 18.4 was finally released! Where Apple’s software updates are almost always followed by a new test version, it took much longer at iOS 18.4. That has to do with the official release of iOS 18.4, which only comes in April. With iOS 18.4 Bèta 1, Apple brings many new functions to the iPhone, but in the Netherlands and Belgium it is a much smaller update.
Apple Intelligence is still not available here, while the new AI functions are an important part of iOS 18.4 Beta 1. These features are first available in France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain. With the first test version of iOS 18.4, Apple Intelligence is being expanded with a new style at Image Playground, renewed Genmoji and reports with priority. For the time being we still have to do it in the Netherlands and Belgium without these functions.

In the Netherlands and Belgium, Apple mainly makes small improvements in iOS 18.4 beta 1. After installing the test version, users again have more freedom when setting standard applications. It is possible to choose other apps that are used as standard for translating and navigating. Now that is still Apple’s own translation and card app, but that changes with iOS 18.4.
In addition, the operating panel is added new options with iOS 18.4, because it will be possible to play new background noises. With the update, Apple introduces regulators for music in the categories chill,, ” productivity,, ” trail and Wellbeing. You can add these options to the control panel, link to the action button of your iPhone or place it on your lock screen. This makes it easier to play background noises.

Other changes in iOS 18.4 Beta 1 are a new widget for the Podcasts app and a modified menu for editing albums in the photos app. It is therefore about small adjustments, the most important functions are missing in the Netherlands and Belgium for the time being. It is expected that Apple Intelligence will not be available in Dutch until the end of 2025 or early 2026. The new technology can probably be used here in English earlier.
Apple has released iOS 18.4 beta 1 for developers. The official release of the update will only follow in April, then all users can install the new software version. By that time, Apple is publishing even more test versions, in which more new functions are added to iOS 18.4. For example, there will be a special Apple Vision Pro app to your iPhone with the update.
