Apple TV+ has its best year ever, but the Apple TV 4K is still waiting for the first update since 2022 – and it is now almost coming.
Apple TV 4K will come next month
There has been a speculation for a long time about the arrival of a new Apple TV 4K, but in October it will finally happen. Here are 4 features that we expect on the new version:
1. A17 Pro chip
The current Apple TV 4K model was launched at the end of 2022 and has a chip that was quite modern at the time: the A15 Bionic. Apple now uses demanding software, Apple Intelligence and newer games, which requires an upgraded chip.
According to the last rumors, the next Apple TV 4K will also receive an A17 Pro chip. That is currently the minimally required Apple chip to support AI functions, which is expected to become much more important in the coming year.
2. Support for Apple Intelligence
This is no surprise, since Apple has gradually added to AI to all products. Although Apple Intelligence originally only supported iPhones, iPads and Macs, the Vision Pro got it this spring and Watchos 26 is now taking it to the Apple Watch.
Rumors say that AI functions also come to the new Apple TV 4K, although possibly to a very limited extent to the large Siri update next spring. AI may mean the following for the TV viewing experience:
- Personalized recommendations based on your current mood.
- Jump to different scenes with a short description.
- Request information afterwards about music from every part of a film.
3. New N1 chip for wireless networks
In addition to the C1 and C1X modems, Apple recently introduced a brand new chip for wireless networks, called N1. The N1 chip combines WiFi, Bluetooth and Thread (a smart home protocol). The chip is currently already built into all new iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air models, and will also be included in the renewed Apple TV 4K.
4. And maybe: Center Stage Camera
This change seems a little less certain, but is certainly not unthinkable. In the current AI era there are rumors that various new Apple products will soon be equipped with cameras, including AirPods and smart glasses. Adding a camera to the Apple TV 4K is not only useful because of the potential benefits of AI, but also for video calls and gesture -controlled operation.
Facetime is already a function of TVOS. Currently, however, you have to Continuity camera Use your iPhone to switch on Facetime. TVOS 26 has Facetime changes that indicate that there may be a built-in camera, which supports the arrival of this function. And given the new Center Stage camera at the front of the iPhone 17, it is not unlikely that something similar will come to the new Apple TV.
