He says this from his own experience. His Apple Watch ensured that the emergency services were called after a serious bicycle accident. He said the following to the New York Post.

‘I’m very grateful and relieved that my Apple Watch helped me. It really is a smart watch. Apple also thinks of everything,” says the 49-year-old cyclist (and Apple Watch owner) from New York after the serious bicycle accident.

During the bike ride to work, his wheel ended up in a hole filled with water about 20 cm deep. ‘We had just had a heavy rain shower and the hole was full of water. It had almost become a kind of trap. The whole road was flooded and there was a lot of traffic behind me, so I had to get through it.

However, disaster struck when he continued cycling and ended up in the hole. This caused him to fly off his bicycle and land on the sidewalk.

After the crash, Zollinger still felt well enough to walk home with his bike in hand. Once home he took a shower, but then he noticed that he was losing a lot of blood. He soon became dizzy and fainted. He hit the side of the bath and was only woken up some time later by the voice of the emergency services via his Apple Watch.

He had planned to go to the hospital himself, but his Apple Watch had already activated emergency services and transmitted his location. Zollinger believes the Apple Watch saved his life. “If the Apple Watch hadn’t warned me, I don’t know what would have happened to me.”
