Specifications

With the Apple Watch SE 2022, you can choose from 40 or 44 millimeters for the case size. The Watch Series 9 is slightly larger, because you can choose between a size of 41 millimeters or 45 millimeters. The material is the same for both (aluminium).

The Apple Watch SE 2022 contains an S8 chip. This is also in the Apple Watch Series 8. However, the Series 9 has an S9 chip, which is of course slightly faster than the one in the SE 2022.

Furthermore, the Series 9 has 64 GB storage capacity. The Apple Watch SE 2022 still has to make do with 32 GB. The more storage, the more apps and music you can store on the Apple Watch.

Screen and always on

The display of the Apple Watch Series 9 is a lot brighter. The SE 2022 has a maximum brightness of 1000 nits. The Series 9 has double that (2000 nits). This brighter screen is especially useful when you’re outside and the sun is shining brightly.

In addition, the Series 9 has an always on display. This means you can always see what time it is. The Apple Watch SE 2022 turns off its screen after a few seconds if you are not looking at it. The Apple Watch Series 9 does not do this by default.

Functions and features

The Apple Watch SE 2022 has all the basic functions. This way you can count steps, use workouts and measure your heart rate. But the Apple Watch Series 9 goes one step further.
