Apple brings a long-awaited function to the alarm clock, but that improvement does have one big risk. This will change!
Alarm clock in iOS 26
At the WWDC, Apple traditionally presented the most important software versions of the year. In 2025, the company will release iOS 26, iPados 26, Watchos 26 and MacOS 26. All operating systems are provided with a new interface, but that is not nearly everything. Many Apple applications get improvements, including the alarm clock app on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and the Mac (book).
The alarm clock app gets the completely new design from iOS 26, so that more transparent frames with rounded corners are added to the application. Apple’s Wekker app will soon look different, but that may not be the important change. This year Apple is bringing an important improvement to the alarm clock app. From iOS 26 you can determine the time between the slime moments of the alarm clock. Now that is still nine minutes as standard, but that will change soon.

Customize slumber duration
Do you have trouble getting up and do you regularly use the slurer function of the alarm clock? In that case, with iOS 26, Apple brings a much-needed improvement to the alarm clock app. After installing the update, determine the slumber duration of each alarm clock. At the moment this is standard nine minutes, from iOS 26 you can finally adjust this. You choose whether the slumber is on and after how many minutes this happens.
Apple adds a new function to the alarm clock. You will find there from iOS 26 ‘slumber duration’, with the number of minutes before the alarm clock passes again. In the new version of the Wekker app you can set the slumber duration between one minute and fifteen minutes. Do you still find that too short? Then you have to set an alarm clock, because the limit of the slumbering duration is (still) fifteen minutes.

Release of iOS 26
We see the same improvement of the alarm clock app in iPados 26, Watchos 26 and MacOS 26. That means that after installing these software versions you can adjust the sleeping time with all alarm clocks. Pay attention, because the new feature can also have a major disadvantage. A longer duration ensures that your second alarm clock passes later, so make sure you don’t sleep.
Apple usually releases the most important software updates of the year in September. That month this long-awaited improvement comes to the alarm clock and it is possible to set the slumber duration. Unfortunately, not all iPhones have support for iOS 26. View here which devices can update to the biggest update of the year. Do you not want to miss any announcement from Apple?
