Aston Martin throws her loose with V12 Speedster

Aston Martin, in the absence of the Geneva Salon, presented a brand new model to the world at its headquarters in Gaydon; the V12 Speedster. A two-seater without a roof, with a 5.2-liter V12 in the nose.

With the V12 Speedster, Aston Martin brings the car to life, on which the CC100 Speedster Concept looked ahead years ago. The concept car shared many characteristics with the then Vantage, this brand new V12 Speedster has the necessary similarities with the current Vantage. That is limited to the front and the back, because in between everything is different. There we see two sports seats, which are at the mercy of the elements and separated from each other by a part of the body. A roof and a windscreen are missing altogether.

The special carriage of the V12 Speedster is entirely made of carbon fiber. Due to the lack of the roof, the base must of course be extra strong and that results in more weight. The use of carbon fiber for the body should compensate as much as possible. The V12 Speedster is, incidentally, on a new basis, which is the result of a combination of that of the DBS Superleggera and Vantage.

The name obviously refers to the power source that serves in the V12 Speedster. The 5.2 liter V12 biturbo, which is also located in the related DBS Superleggera, finds its way to the new model. With around 700 hp, the power source delivers slightly less power than in the DBS Superleggera, but in this open two-seater that’s more than enough. The 0-100 time of 3.5 seconds is certainly not nauseous. The top speed is 300 km / h.

Aston Martin is going to build only 88 copies of the V12 Speedster and will start delivery early in 2021. Interested parties must, not unexpectedly, dig deep into their pockets. The V12 Speedster goes to its first owner for less than € 880,000.
