Automobili Estrema Fulminea in the picture

In February we became digitally acquainted with Automobili Estrema, which then largely parked its Estrema Fulminea under a cloth. Now we already get to see the car in animation form, but the real revelation is yet to come.

Yes, Estrema is the umpteenth newcomer in the field of electric hypercars and yes, we sometimes get tired of that. Still, the Fulminea does have something interesting, but let’s start with the appearance. That is now fully visible for the first time, where Estrema kept it at a careful corner in February.

The Estrema lives up to its name, because it looks quite extreme indeed. The body is littered with carbon fiber spoilers, splitters and wings that undoubtedly serve an aerodynamic purpose, but also add to its bizarre appearance. The rear in particular is crazy, with its rear lights that seem to serve as spoilers themselves. In the center of the butt is a vertical, transparent ‘fin’. Also noteworthy: the wheels are largely closed, which undoubtedly contributes to the aerodynamics.

However, the Fulminea is mainly interesting under the skin. The of course Italian Automobili Estrema talks about an electric powertrain consisting of four engines with a total, yes, 2,040 hp. It should be possible to pop from 0 to 320 in no more than ten seconds. Those who hold back must also be able to travel 520 km thanks to a battery pack of 100 kWh, at least in theory.

Incidentally, that battery pack consists partly of solid-state batteries, says Estrema. In contrast to the widely used lithium-ion batteries, no liquid is used as a compound, but a solid. This battery shape provides a higher energy density and also means that the power supply can withstand higher temperatures, which is certainly useful for this driving extremist.

On May 13, we will know more, because then Estrema will take the Fulminea past the stage of scale models and animations. A ‘full-size’ copy is then displayed digitally, although secretly it is still a life-size model.
