Apple has announced the capacity of the battery in the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. You need to know this.
Battery iPhone 17 is better than that of its predecessor
Apple is obliged to publish energy labels on its iPhone product pages in the EU. The official MAH capacity of the battery must then be in the new iPhone models. According to Apple, these are the battery capacities for each model:
- iPhone 17: 3692 MAH (+3.7% compared to the iPhone 16)
- iPhone Air: 3149 MAH
- iPhone 17 Pro: 4252 MAH (+18.7% compared to the iPhone 16 Pro)
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 5088 MAH (+8.6% compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max)

With or without physical SIM-Slot
The only thing that is unclear about these capacities is whether they apply to the battery of the SIM or from the ESIM-only models. Apple says that the Esim-only models of the new iPhones have a larger battery that fills the space that was previously taken by the physical SIM-Slot.
The iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max still have a physical SIM slot in the EU. That is why it is reasonable to assume that the aforementioned capacities of the battery apply to these models. Yet we have already seen the same values for models with only an Esim, so the situation is currently somewhat unclear.
The iPhone Air is only available worldwide with ESIM, so the battery capacity of this iPhone is the same in every country or region where the device is sold. Apple also has an optional Magsafe battery released for the iPhone Air.
