Battery test: does the iPhone 14 Pro Max beat the Google Pixel 7 Pro? (video)

Of course you already knew that the iPhone 14 Pro Max has an excellent battery life. But can it match the battery life of Google Pixel 7 Pro (and other Android competitors)? You will discover that in this video!

iPhone 14 Pro Max has the best battery life

The battery life of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is already the best of all iPhones ever, but it is also the best battery life of all flagship smartphones currently available.

The test that shows this was carried out by PhoneArena. They pit the iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the Google Pixel 7, the Google Pixel 7 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Google Pixel 6 Pro.

Surfing the internet battery life

In the first part of the test, surfing the Internet was simulated. The ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max far outperformed here:

  • ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max: 19 hours and 5 minutes;
  • ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌: 16 hours and 18 minutes;
  • Pixel 7 Pro: 14 hours and 19 minutes;
  • Pixel 7: 13 hours and 56 minutes;
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra: 13 hours and 17 minutes;
  • Pixel 6 Pro: 13 hours and 13 minutes.

Play movie battery life

In the second part of the test, each phone played the same YouTube video with the brightness set to 100 percent. As long as the battery was empty. Here are the results:

  • ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max: 11 hours and 0 minutes;
  • Pixel 7 Pro: 9 hours 39 minutes;
  • ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌: 9 hours and 14 minutes;
  • Pixel 7: 9 hours and 13 minutes;
  • Pixel 6 Pro: 9 hours and 10 minutes;
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra: 7 hours and 27 minutes.

Again, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the undisputed winner, but the iPhone 14 Pro is just overtaken by the Pixel 7 Pro.

Best battery life, smallest battery

You might expect that the most powerful batteries also provide the best battery life, but that turns out not to be the case. Compared to the other large smartphones, the iPhone 14 Pro Max even has the smallest battery and nevertheless lasts the longest. The battery of the iPhone 14 Pro is also less powerful than that of the Pixel 7 and still lasts longer:

  • ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max: 4323mAh;
  • ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌: 3200mAh;
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra: 5000mAh;
  • Pixel 7 Pro: 5000mAh;
  • Pixel 7: 4355mAh;
  • Pixel 6 Pro: 5000mAh.

The reason for this is that Apple software and hardware are so perfectly matched that the energy consumption is very efficient. A smaller battery can therefore last longer.
