The Apple Watch Series 8 is secretly getting pretty boring, because it gets the same chip as its predecessors. Even the Apple Watch Series 6 already had this chip.
Apple Watch Series 8: This is about to change
We already know (almost) everything about the new software for the Apple Watch, because the beta of watchOS 9 has been available for a while. However, a lot less is known about the new Apple Watch Series 8.

According to some rumors, the new smartwatch will have a slightly different design. The Apple Watch Series 7 didn’t get a new design, but before its release there were a lot of rumors that a flatter design would be coming.
It could very well be that this flatter design is intended for the successor. A video by Jon Prosser (who regularly distributes accurate information about unannounced Apple products) took a closer look at the design of the Apple Watch Series 8.
He also cited a tweet from ShrimpApplePro. This states that the screen of the Apple Watch Series 8 will become flatter. ShrimpApplePro has previously published rumors on Twitter, including about the two holes that (instead of the notch) will come with the iPhone 14 Pro.
Apple Watch Series 8 gets the same chip (as the Series 6)
Now the reliable Mark Gurman is also doing his bit. He says that the S8 chip of the Apple Watch Series 8 has the same specifications as the previous one (the S7 chip). That means that the Apple Watch Series 8 actually gets the same chip as the one in the Apple Watch Series 6, because it also has the S7 chip. Perhaps Apple will still rename the chip in the Series 8. He also said that the Apple Watch Series 9 will get a new chip.

Gurman also talked about the new Apple Watch SE. According to him, the SE will keep the current screen, and the smartwatch will not get the screen of the Series 7. Perhaps Apple will choose to give the Apple Watch SE the same S8 chip as in the Apple Watch Series 8.
Measure body temperature with Apple Watch
Both Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman have said several times last year that the Apple Watch from 2022 will get a new feature. Both Apple experts think that the Apple Watch Series 8 will soon be able to measure body temperature. Incidentally, in an interview with Outside Magazine, Tim Cook said that the Apple Watch is still in the “beginning phase” in the field of health.
Buy Apple Watch
Do you have an Apple Watch Series 5, an Apple Watch Series 4, or even older? And do you actually want a new one as soon as possible? Then read the article ‘Buy Apple Watch in 2022’ and check our Apple Watch price comparison.
The Apple Watch Series 7 is currently the latest model. But the Apple Watch Series 6 is still a great buy, too. You then miss the slightly larger screen and the even faster charging. But otherwise there is much the same with the Series 6 as with the Apple Watch Series 7. And the great thing is: you then have the same chip that also comes in the Apple Watch Series 8.
