The iOS 18 update came with some nice new features. However, not everything goes completely smoothly after the update. According to the latest reports, there is a pretty annoying bug in iOS 18’s Photos app.

The bug prevents edits you make to your photos from being saved. It doesn’t affect everyone, but users who experience it are assigned to other apps.

The error message indicates that there was a problem saving the photo. But offers no further solutions. The only choice you have is to undo the edits.

Most of the complaints seem to come from iPhone 16 owners. But there are also a number of older iPhones that exhibit these problems. It does not matter which version of iOS 18 you have.

The first reports of this error in iOS 18 surfaced online sometime in September. Several users of the beta version of iOS 18.2 are also experiencing the same issues.

It is not entirely clear where exactly the problem lies. It seems that every iPhone user can suffer from it. It can also happen with any photo.

It could be related to Live Photos. Or the problem is with iCloud itself. Some users have reported having problems with all the photos from a given day.

No fix for the Photos issue in iOS 18

There is currently no solution to the problem. Some users do indicate that they can duplicate a photo using the ‘Duplicate as normal photo’ option. This means they will lose the Live Photo options. In any case, Apple is aware of the problem and is working on a solution.
