Mental health is just as important as physical health. Research shows that paying attention to your state of mind can have a positive effect on your emotional awareness and resilience. You can easily record your state of mind via the Health or Mindfulness app.
Using your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch you can capture emotions and daily moods. Over time you will be able to see your state of mind at a glance and anticipate it.
State of mind in Health
In the Health app, you can manage your mental well-being and add your mood since iOS 17 and iPadOS 17. Follow the steps below.
- Open Health
- Go to ‘Data’
- Select ‘Mental wellbeing’
- Open ‘Mood’
- Tap Capture
Decide whether you want to add a current emotion via the ‘How you feel right now’ button or choose to link a mood to the day via ‘How you generally felt today’. You can view your previous moods via the calendar symbol.

Mood Apple Watch
- Open the Mindfulness app
- Choose ‘Mood’
- Select a ‘Capture’ moment
By turning the Digital Crown, you can scroll through attractive, multi-dimensional shapes to indicate how you are doing, what has the biggest impact on you, and what feelings you are having.
Set reminders
You can optionally set a reminder to fill in your mood every day. You do this via Health â–¸ Data â–¸ Mental health â–¸ Mood â–¸ Options (bottom).
