Move apps from the App Library to the Home screen

It’s been a while, but since iOS 14 and iPadOS 15 you can use the App Library, an automatic and smart display of all installed iPhone and iPad apps. You can also choose to clean up your home screens and move apps to the App Library.

The applications can then only be found in this smart display or can be opened via the search function (Spotlight) and Siri. If you no longer want this, it is possible to put an app that is only visible in the app library back to the home screen.

Move App Library apps to Home screen

  • Unlock your iPhone
  • Navigate to the app library
  • Place your finger on the app you want to move
  • Wait a few moments
  • The shortcuts menu will open, release
  • Select ‘Add to home screen’

The application will automatically be placed back on the home screen and you can move it to a desired position.

There is also another way to move the apps. You can also drag them directly from the app library to the home screen and place them in the desired place.

Uninstall application via app library

It is also possible to delete apps from the App Library. Place your finger on an app in the App Library, wait a few moments and then tap ‘Delete App’. Unlike the apps on the home screen, the application is now immediately removed from your iPhone. Of course, you can always download it again from your purchases in the App Store.
