CBR again postpones easing

The CBR has once again postponed its intended flexibility for practical exams. Where it was previously a one-month postponement, it is now not disclosed until when the easing has been postponed.

At the beginning of July, the Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen (CBR) received good news: it came up with a step-by-step plan whereby driving instructors were allowed to slowly but surely ride along during practical exams. Initially, this would be allowed again for special driving tests, such as for a student with fear of failure. That would initially be allowed again from 1 August. However, due to the flare-up in the number of people infected with the corona virus, those plans were postponed until September 1.

The CBR says it still has no confidence in the course of the outbreaks, so the plans are once again put on hold. Where it used to be a month’s postponement, it is now about “a later moment”. This is reported by the trade association Driving school pro based on ANP news agency. For the time being, exam students have to do without their driving instructor during an exam. He may also not be present at the final interview after the all-deciding ride.

The CBR also adheres to other measures. For example, before each test, the vehicle must be aired for at least seven minutes by opening all windows and doors. It goes without saying that no one should be in the car during this time frame. If the examiner still does not trust it, he or she may not allow the exam to take place. Last week it was announced that students often take the quarantine measures for granted due to the long waiting times at the CBR. They are afraid of having to wait much longer as soon as an exam may be canceled.
