ChatGPT gets free feature
Over the past year, ChatGPT has become incredibly popular. There is now both a free and a paid version of the chatbot available. Users with a free subscription can ask textual questions, have access to GPT-4o (mini) and can create their own chatbots. With the paid subscription, users get earlier access to new ChatGPT features and more extensive language models are available.

ChatGPT Plus not only allows users to have texts (re)written, they also have the option to create images. They do have to pay a considerable amount for this, because the subscription costs no less than 20 dollars per month. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has now announced that this function will also be coming to the free version of the chat service. You will no longer have to pay to create images with ChatGPT.
How to Create Images with ChatGPT
DALL-E, the chatbot used to create images, will soon also be available with the free version of ChatGPT. Creating an image is then easy, you only need to enter a text command. As a user, you describe how the image should look, ChatGPT then immediately creates an animation. Don’t like the image? Then you can make adjustments in a new text command.
With ChatGPT you often need a few attempts to improve the images. That is also the disadvantage of the new function, because in the free version of ChatGPT you are only allowed to make two images per day. Often you need multiple chances for one image, but that is not possible with the free subscription. With ChatGPT Plus you can create unlimited images.
ChatGPT coming to iOS 18
OpenAI has announced that it will soon roll out the feature to the free ChatGPT plan. However, it is recommended to opt for ChatGPT Plus if you want to create a lot of images, because two attempts per day is probably (much) too little. Don’t want to take out a paid subscription? Then you can also wait for iOS 18, because then ChatGPT will be standard on your iPhone.

Starting with iOS 18, you can create your own images in Notes. This works the same as the free feature in ChatGPT, but in iOS 18 you are not limited to two attempts per day. You can use Apple Intelligence to create an image based on a description. This is possible thanks to the collaboration between OpenAI and Apple.
