For many road users, refueling is becoming increasingly expensive, because gasoline prices have risen sharply in recent years. Because of geopolitical tensions and excise duties you pay much more for gasoline than a few years ago. Refueling across the border is therefore more and more, but not everyone has that possibility. Fortunately, there are other options for refueling as cheaply as possible, so you can install an app to look up the lowest prices.
To refuel cheaply, it is best to install the ANWB app on your iPhone in the Netherlands. This application can be downloaded for free and shows the current lowest petrol prices of every gas station. That is a big advantage, because other apps like Google Maps hide the current gasoline prices in the Netherlands. In the ANWB app you can see it, so that you can immediately see which gas station you can best go to. This is how the application works!
That’s how the ANWB app works
Have you installed the ANWB app on your iPhone? In that case you will first get the option to log in and adjust a number of settings. Logging in or creating an ANWB account is not a requirement to see the lowest gasoline prices. Have you followed or clicked these steps? Then it is easy to see in the app where you can refuel cheaply and which gas stations are open. You do that as follows:
- Open the ANWB app on your iPhone;
- Go to ‘Home’;
- Choose ‘refuel’;
- Scroll down for the gas stations nearby;
- Or search at a location for gas stations further away;
- The lowest petrol prices are visible at every gas station.
The gas stations in the neighborhood are automatically filtered in order of price. This way you can see the gas station with the lowest gasoline prices first, the most expensive gas stations are the last. In the app you can see in this way at a glance where you can refuel cheaply. Do you want to see the lowest gasoline prices abroad? Then you have to log in to the ANWB application. If you don’t want that, you can also use Google Maps or another app.
More about the ANWB app
The ANWB app shows you in a well-arranged way where you can refuel cheaply. You have the option to add filters by tapping the controllers at the map. There you can tap the different types of fuel that are relevant to you. In this way it is also possible to find the cheapest diesel in your area, or to only search for gas stations with Euro 95 or Super Plus 98.
Is your tank almost empty? You can also search for the gas stations at the smallest distance. To do this, tap ‘Price’ and select ‘distance – ascending’. This way you can see exactly which gas station is closest, so that you can refuel as quickly as possible.
