Cheaper Apple Vision appears in 2026 (with these functions)

The Apple Vision Pro was Apple’s first step in the world of AR/VR headsets and the second step comes in the form of a cheaper version.

Cheaper Apple Vision will be in 2026

It has been talking for some time that Apple will launch a cheaper vision. In what period, so far not all rumors agree. We have seen various messages that suggested that the Non-Pro Apple Vision Headset would be on the market in 2025, 2026 and 2027. The newest rumor says that Apple is now busy increasing its development.

Diverse opinions

Last October Mark Gurman van Bloomberg reported that the work on the cheaper Apple Vision was on schedule and would be launched from 2025. That statement is of course not very specific. Every year from 2025, technically speaking, it could be eligible.

Ming-Chi Kuo said shortly thereafter that he did not agree. He suggested that Apple gave a priority to an updated version of the Vision Pro and that a cheaper version had been postponed until 2027. In the meantime, Gurman disagrees with both KUO and himself. He says that no updated Vision Pro is in the making, but there is in 2026 A cheaper version is coming.

We expect this

Apple must be careful with the launch of a cheaper model. On the one hand, the price must absolutely down to a more realistic level. On the other hand, the headset must have sufficient reasons to prefer one of the competing products, such as Meta’s Quest Headsets.

Eyesight disappears

Eyesight was one of the most important functions of Vision Pro. According to Apple, it has practical benefits that people know when a user sees them, but also psychological benefits by reducing the headset.

However, it is an expensive function, for which an extra screen is needed. And it seems that few people think it adds a lot of value. Enough reasons to assume that this function is missing on a cheaper Apple Vision.

Visionos 2

Resolution is lower

A big advantage of the Vision Pro compared to cheaper competitors is the quality of the screens. This is due to an OLED technique that is known as OLEDOS (OLED on silicon). Moreover, the Vision Pro screens with an extremely high resolution of 3660 × 3200 pixels per eye.

These screens produce incredibly lifelike images, but its production is also quite pricey. Apple will almost certainly stick to the OLEDOS technique, but also almost certainly lower the resolution to make the screens of a cheaper Apple Vision more affordable.

Less aluminum and more plastic

The Vision Pro contains a lot of aluminum, which contributes to the premium product feeling. At the same time, it is more expensive to produce. Moreover, even a relatively light metal such as aluminum is considerably heavier than plastic, which means that wearing longer is less comfortable.

For these two reasons, we can expect that a cheaper Apple Vision consists for the most part of plastic.

A price below 2000 euros

It has often been suggested that Apple has to ask for a price of around 1500 euros to make it a somewhat popular product. According to others, it should even be a maximum of 1000 euros. We do not consider the latter realistic. We therefore assume a price between 1500 and 2000 euros.
