Check out this remarkable way to get water out of your iPhone

Water in your iPhone? Don’t put it in a bowl of rice, there are safer ways to get the water out!

Try this to get water out of your iPhone

While most iPhones are water-resistant according to the IP68 rating, it’s always possible that water will seep in. Apple recommends that you simply dry your iPhone, tap out any excess water, and definitely not put it in a bowl of rice. However, there are other things you can safely try.

First, there’s the YouTube video above, which plays sound that’s supposed to make the water vibrate out. This video has been around for four years, but was recently iFixit tested on four iPhones, including an iPhone 13. This is their conclusion:

It works! Sort of. We played the video on each iPhone and took a close-up video of the speakers. In all cases, water droplets came out immediately. The effect didn’t last long, but there was clearly water coming out that wouldn’t have come out otherwise.

The advantage was limited to the speakers, though. If there is water in the USB port, SIM slot or under the buttons of your iPhone, the video won’t help.

Use the Water Eject command

A similar way to get water out of your iPhone is with the popular command Water Eject. You can easily add this to the Assignments app. When you execute the assignment, a sound with a certain frequency is played. This should ensure that the water comes out.

You can also opt for the free sound samples from TunePocket. There you will find a number of mp3s containing sounds of different frequencies. Basically, the lower the frequency and the higher the volume, the more air is displaced and the more likely the water will come out of the iPhone.

Of course, these are not methods that will immediately make your iPhone bone dry again. However, it is not a bad idea to perform them to remove as much water as possible before you let your iPhone air dry further. This will at least speed up the process. In any case, the following applies here: if it doesn’t help, it doesn’t hurt.
