The Apple Vision Pro is a spatial computer that can place virtual screens and objects in the real view. We explain how to customize this view, change windows and close apps.
You also have the choice to use apps in the ‘real world’ or in a virtual environment. You can easily change the intensity of those Environments, so that you are completely surrounded or just have a glimpse of your surroundings.
Move app windows
You can open an application by looking at it and then making a tapping gesture with your thumb and index finger. Then you can move the app window as follows:
- Look at the line at the bottom of the window (window bar)
- Press your index finger and thumb together (pinch), hold
- Move the window to the desired location by moving your hand (drag)
- Release to secure it

Resize a window
Look at the bottom right or bottom left corner of the app window. An arc will appear at the corner, then pinch and drag to resize the window. Release to complete the adjustment.
Center view
Press and hold the Digital Crown to update everything in your view, including apps, windows, environments, and interactive experiences. Think of it as a calibration so that everything is shown centered again.
Close application
- Look at the window bar at the bottom of the window
- Look at the dot, it will change to a cross
- Tap your index finger and thumb together to close the window

Additional tip: You can also press and hold the close button with a pinch gesture. Then tap Close to close the current application, or tap Hide Others to close all other apps. You can also look at a window and ask Siri to close the window or app.
You can also force close an application by pressing and holding the Digital Crown and the top button. In the resulting window you can then force close apps.
Using environments
Environments allow you to transform your physical environment into another place, such as Yosemite, Mount Hood, or the moon. Some apps also have exclusive environments that are only available when the app is in use, such as a meeting room for rehearsing a Keynote presentation.
- Navigate to the Home screen (press the Digital Crown once)
- Open the ‘Environments’ tab, recognizable by the two mountains
- Select a desired environment
- Turn the Digital Crown to change the intensity of the environment

You can also further adjust the environment via the control panel, such as dark mode or ambient sounds. Look up at the arrow symbol (v) and open the control panel (switch symbol). Navigate to the mountains and adjust the desired options.
In addition, you can also quickly switch between your physical environment and immersion. Double-click on the Digital Crown to immediately see your surroundings. Then press the Digital Crown once to return to your experience.
