DeLorean looks ahead: with Alpha5 Plasmatail and Omega

The company that is officially called DeLorean Motors Reimagined but mainly calls itself DeLorean Motor Company tries to make something out of nothing. In May 2022, the company presented the Alpha5, a fully electrically powered GT with gull-wing doors and a handful of design elements that refer to the one and only DeLorean, the DMC12. More recently, DeLorean Motors Reimagined took you to a sort of parallel universe where DeLorean never went bust and where it continued to build various study and production models over the years. Pure fantasy, then, but with the two concept cars that it now presents, the brand shows two real visions of the future.

DeLorean Alpha5 Plasma Tail

The most concrete of the two is the Alpha5 Plasmatail. The Alpha5 Plasmatail is in fact a more practical variant of the Alpha5 that the brand wants to bring to the market. The Alpha5 Plasmatail is planned for 2024 and according to DeLorean can accommodate four passengers, but can carry more luggage than the regular Alpha5. We aim to match the technology of the Alpha5 Plasmatail with the stuff it fills the Alpha5 with. So count on a 100 kWh battery and electric motors that are powerful enough to zoom to a speed of 60 mph (97 km/h) in about 3 seconds.

DeLorean Omega

Then there is the Omega, a very futuristic-looking study model. DeLorean doesn’t say much about it, besides that the Omega is already looking ahead to the next step in the design of its cars. It is striking, after all, the Alpha5 is not even for sale yet.
