Disney Plus account sharing: soon it will no longer be possible

Sharing an account on Disney Plus will soon no longer be possible. Disney has had enough and is going to put a stop to it. Here’s what’s going on.

Disney Plus account sharing: soon it will no longer be possible

Disney Plus plans to crack down on account and password sharing in September. They’ve been planning to do this for a while, but Disney CEO Bob Iger has now said they really want to get started. This will be primarily in America, but they also have other countries in mind.

Netflix started cracking down on account sharing last year, and the streaming service says it’s been very successful. Iger says he admires Netflix and calls it the “gold standard of streaming.” Disney Plus has previously said it wants to crack down on password sharing. According to the CEO, Disney hasn’t heard any complaints about this.

Iger continues, saying that they plan to give Disney Plus subscribers the option to let someone outside the household watch along, but not share the account. That will cost a little extra, but it’s not yet known how much extra this will cost.

Disney plus iPhone

At the moment Disney Plus costs 10.99 euros per month here. Or 109.90 euros for an annual subscription. If we also get a price increase here, the new prices will probably be 12.99 euros per month or 119.90 euros per month. A subscription with advertising is not (yet) available in Europe.

When Disney Plus became available in the Netherlands towards the end of 2019, the price was still 6.99 euros per month. In the meantime, they have already implemented a number of price increases. But it looks like you will have to pay even more soon.
