Do you want to go for the iPhone 15 or the iPhone 15 Pro this summer?

It should come as no surprise that the iPhone 15 will launch sometime in September or October. It is not yet known exactly what it will look like, but there are plenty of indications why it is better to ignore the regular version compared to the iPhone 15 Pro. One More Thing editor Jeroen Kraak tells you why.

I’m already looking forward to the new iPhone 15 and for a number of good reasons. For example, it is the first smartphone from Apple with a USB-C connection and the Dynamic Island is also coming to the regular version. Yet there are even more reasons to go for the Pro.

Go for the iPhone 15 Pro instead of the regular version

But why leave the regular iPhone 15 for the Pro? Here are five reasons.

Please note that the information below is based on a collection of rumours. So take it with a grain of salt.

#1 The A17 chip

This is perhaps the most logical reason to go for the iPhone 15 Pro. Since the iPhone 14, Apple has made a distinction in the chips of the devices. The regular version of the smartphone has to make do with last year’s chip, while the Pro gets the new version.

This is no different with the iPhone 15 line. However, there is now a difference compared to last year. Apple now seems to be making an A-chip for the first time with the new 3nm process. As a result, the difference in strength can be even greater.

#2 Better screen

Just like the iPhone 14, the 15 Pro probably has exactly the same screen as the regular version. Despite this, there are differences, such as a higher peak brightness and features such as always-on and Pro Motion.

That always-on screen can make an even bigger difference. That’s because of the new iOS 17 feature StandBy. This turns your iPhone into a kind of smart hub. Even if you are not actively using your iPhone, it can show relevant information, such as football scores and photos.

#3 Better camera

Well, this may seem like a captain obvious, but it isn’t. We all know that the iPhone 15 Pro has better camera options than the regular version. For example, this standard has a telephoto camera that the normal version does not have. In addition, you cannot shoot in ProRaw with the regular 15.

But there is an even bigger difference and that lies with the 15 Pro Max. The most expensive model in the line gets a periscope lens for the first time, which allows you to zoom in even better. The optical zoom is 5 to 6 times and the digital zoom can zoom in at least twenty times.

#4 The iPhone 15 Pro is made of titanium

The iPhone 14 Pro had a stainless steel body. With the 15 Pro, however, it is made of titanium, something we first saw with the Apple Watch Ultra.

And that titanium offers a great advantage. Although it is slightly less strong than stainless steel, it is still very sturdy. The biggest plus, however, is the weight. Titanium is a bit lighter, especially with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which is much nicer.

#5 A new button

In addition to titanium, the iPhone 15 Pro gets another update on the outside. It seems that Apple will adjust the design of the volume buttons for the more expensive models.

This so-called action button replaces the mute slide and can have different functions depending on how you use your iPhone. You would still toggle silent mode on or off with it, but in camera mode you could switch between photo and video, for example. For example, each app has a different function where that button can be useful.
