Two days after the release of iOS 14.7, iPadOS 14.7 is now also available for download. The software update mainly contains minor improvements. The same goes for macOS 11.5.
Download iPadOS 14.7: how to install the update
Is your iPad already running on iPadOS 14? Then you can also download and install version 14.7. Among other things, the latest update improves the security of your device, so we recommend installing it as soon as possible. This is how you do it:
- Make sure your iPad battery is at least 50 percent full, and hang it on the charger;
- Go to the Settings app and tap “General”;
- Choose ‘Software update’ in this menu and let your iPad search for the latest update;
- Found it? Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the update.
Does the new update not appear on the screen? Then there is nothing to do but wait. Just after the release of a new update, many people want to download the software and so digital queues arise. Try again later to avoid the queue.
Also important: back up your iPad beforehand. In most cases, the download of iPadOS 14.7 goes without any problems, but if it unexpectedly goes less smoothly, you will at least not lose any important data.
This is what’s new in iPadOS 14.7
iPadOS 14.7 is a minor update that mainly fixes problems and makes improvements. In addition, you can now turn on timers on the HomePod and HomePod mini via the Home app. That’s great, because that’s now also possible if you’re not in the same room as your smart speaker.
Furthermore, iOS 14.7 adds small (security) improvements and the Weather and Maps app gets a nice addition. From now on you can view the air quality in Dutch cities.
Also new: macOS 11.5
In addition to iPadOS 14.7, you can also download macOS 11.5. This is also a minor update that, for example, fixes some problems in the Apple Music app. In addition, you can now choose in the Podcast app whether you want to see all podcasts in the library or only the titles you follow.
Download macOS 11.5 works like this:
- Open the System Preferences;
- Click on the ‘Software Updates’ button;
- Wait for macOS Big Sur to appear here and click ‘Update’;
- Wait for the download to complete and follow the steps on the screen.
While installing the update, your Mac will restart. So make sure you have saved all your files and closed programs. This way you can be sure that you will not lose any data. macOS 11.5 rolls out for all of the Macs listed below:
- 12-inch MacBook (2015 and newer)
- MacBook Air (2013 and newer)
- MacBook Pro (2013 and newer)
- Mac mini (2014 and newer)
- iMac (2014 and newer)
- iMac Pro
- Mac Pro (2013 and newer)
