DS and the Louvre Museum are both French heritage. Now the two are united in the DS 3 Crossback Louvre, a limited edition with, among other things, some external references to the museum.
The original Citroën DS is seen by many as a driving work of art and the DS brand tries to evoke that feeling in a contemporary way. With a reference to art, of course. It previously released the DS 7 Crossback Louvre and now the DS 3 Crossback is undergoing a similar treatment.
For starters, the DS 3 Crossback is covered with logos that refer to the Louvre. You will find this on the hood, tailgate and doors, among other things. Just above the black DS logo you will find a pyramid-shaped emblem on the hood, a reference to the glass pyramid that belongs to the museum. Furthermore, numerous accents are in glossy black and the DS 3 Crossback Louvre is mounted on special 18-inch alloy wheels with a schematic representation of part of the Louvre pyramid.
In the interior, black is also a ubiquitous color. For example, the seats are covered with nappa leather in the color ‘Art Basalt Black’ and there are stitching that DS describes as ‘pearl stitching’. The aforementioned pyramid shape can also be found several times in the interior.
It goes beyond museum references, though, as occupants can actually enjoy the art on display in the Louvre. This can be called up via a special app ‘Un jour au Louvre’ integrated into the infotainment system. For example, you can ‘browse’ through 182 selected works of art from different departments of the museum and display them in full screen. If you want, you can set a different work of art to be highlighted every week. This can also be set as a background, so that occupants can look at it while driving. Podcasts are also available of a few minutes in which the displayed art is explained.
The DS 3 Crossback Louvre is available as the fully electric E-Tense, but also with the 130 hp PureTech petrol engine. There is a choice of five different lacquer colours: Noir Perla Nera (black), Gris Artense (grey), Gris Platinium (grey), Blanc Nacré (white) and Cristal Pearl (champagne). The DS 3 Crossback Louvre will be available from €43,740.
