iOS 16.1 Dynamic Island dynamically with Reachability
What happens to the new Dynamic Island of the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) in iOS 16 when you try to use the Reachability feature? Nothing yet. But the iOS 16.1 beta is going to change that. This will soon ensure that the Dynamic Island does something. The new oval bar then ‘slides’ downwards (just like the rest of the screen).
The Reachability feature is useful for those with small hands, as it makes it easier to access the options normally found at the top of the screen. In iOS 16.1 beta, the oval area will also be easier to reach with one hand.
Reachability on iPhone 14 Pro’s Dynamic Island
Tech-Up first shared the Dynamic Island with the ‘Reachability’ feature in the iOS 16.1 beta on twitter. You can find the option in ‘Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Reachability’.
Once this is set, swipe down on the bottom edge of the screen to activate this special mode. On the first versions of iOS 16, the Dynamic Island does not work with the function and the bar remains at the top of the screen, while the rest of the content goes down. With the future update to iOS 16.1, this “problem” seems to be fixed for users of the iPhone 14 Pro or the iPhone 14 Pro Max. On the other hand: with accessibility, the screen is already reduced by half. Do you really have the virtual notch who really has nothing to look for there?
