503 hp from almost a ton
Since last year, the Audi E-tron and E-Tron Sportback have been known as Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron. Those two electric SUVs are already available as 50 quattro and 55 quattro and are now also coming to the Netherlands as an extra potent SQ8. AutoWeek has the prices.
The e-tron label that Audi used years ago to designate plug-in hybrid powertrains has been applied to fully electric models since 2018. The e-tron label, which changed meaning five years ago, debuted on an electric SUV that was simply named E-Tron. Audi now has the Q4 e-tron and E-Tron GT, so Audi thought the time was right last year to also give the ‘E-Tron’ a more concrete model name. The Audi E-Tron and E-Tron Sportback are now called Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron. Those two SUVs were already available as a 340 hp 50 quattro and as a 408 hp 55 quattro, and now the sporty top versions are added: the SQ8s. The prices of the Audi SQ8 e-tron and SQ8 Sportback e-tron are now known.
Like the 55 quattros, the Audi SQ8 e-tron and SQ8 Sportback e-tron have the largest battery pack available in the Q8 e-tron. That package has a capacity of 115 kWh (net: 106 kWh). The three electric motors together provide a system power of 503 hp and with that the two, weighing 2,725 kilos, stomp in 4.5 seconds to a speed of 100 km / h. The top speed of both versions is 210 km/h. Thanks to its more aerodynamic shape, the SQ8 Sportback e-tron goes a little further on a full battery. The range of the Audi SQ8 e-tron stops after a maximum of 458 kilometers, the SQ8 Sportback e-tron reaches a maximum of 471 kilometers. Fast charging is possible with up to 170 kW.
Then the prices. The Audi SQ8 e-tron costs €99,135 in the Netherlands. For the SQ8 Sportback e-tron you tap €101,535. Do not confuse the Q8’s e-tron and SQ8’s e-tron with the Q8 and SQ8. After all, these are SUVs that are only available with combustion engines.
