Electric Ram 1500 REV has longer range than Mercedes EQS

In February, Ram released the first images of the 1500 REV, the electric equivalent of the Ram 1500 that may even come to Europe. Footage of the interior of the electric pick-up kept Ram under wraps for a while. Just like technical specifications. They are there now and Ford may be awakened by them. In its most capable form, the electric Ford F-150 Lightning kicks it up to an electric range of 510 kilometers. The Ram 1500 REV can travel no less than 800 kilometers on a full battery.

The Ram 1500 REV will be available in two flavors, but for the time being each variant has two together 663 hp and 840 Nm powerful electric motors. The difference lies in the size of the battery pack. The basic version of the 1500 REV already receives a 168 kWh battery pack from Ram in its bottom. There the electric pick-up squeezes out a range of up to 563 kilometers. The basic version is therefore already further than the Ford F-150 Lightning in the highest positioned Limited gear. But it can be even crazier. The Ram 1500 REV will also be available with an immense package with a capacity of 229 kWh. It is that version that, according to Ram, has a range of 500 miles, which is just over 800 kilometers. By comparison, the smoother-than-eel and much lower Mercedes-Benz EQS gets up to 762 miles on a full battery.

The Ram 1500 REV is on the STLA Frame version of the new EV-dedicated STLA platform family and is capable of fast charging up to 350kW thanks to its 800v architecture. There is a 7.2 kW power connection in the cargo box to charge other devices and a 3.6 kW charging point can be found in the pick-up. What else will we find out? The Ram 1500 REV can tow up to 6,350 kilograms and has a maximum payload of 1,225 kilograms. The frank – the luggage space under the front lid – is, just like that of the Ford F-150, not small at all. You can store up to 425 liters of stuff in it.

In the interior we find a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12 or 14.5-inch vertically oriented infotainment screen and even a third screen. It sits right in front of the co-driver and has a diagonal of 10.25 inches. The Ram 1500 REV will include a digital interior mirror, an extensive head-up display and – depending on the chosen version – 19- to 22-inch large light metal.

The Ford F-150, Ram 1500 REV and the Rivian R1T aren’t the only electric pickups on the US market. For example, Chevrolet is coming up with an electric equivalent of the Silverado, GMC with an electric Sierra, Tesla with the Cybertruck and even the new GMC Hummer will have a version with a flatbed.
