Electric Xpeng P5 is interesting for Europe

The Chinese Xpeng has plans to appropriate a hefty point of the European electric car pie. The brand has already set foot in Norway with a compact electric crossover. Xpeng is now pulling the curtain on a new production model, an electric sedan that could make life difficult for the Tesla Model 3.

Xpeng is a brand, founded in 2014 by former board members of the Chinese GAC Group, that only carries electric cars. The Xpeng already sells the G3, a compact crossover in Norway, and also has a second model in the range in China: the P7. The P7 is a 4.9 meter long electric sedan that gets a smaller sedan brother in the form of this brand new Xpeng P5. The Xpeng P5 is of course also completely electric.

The P5 is 4.81 meters long, 1.84 meters wide and has a wheelbase of 2.77 meters. This makes it only 7 centimeters shorter than the large sedan P7, which has a 23 centimeters longer wheelbase. Xpeng is still keeping extensive technical specifications under its cap, although the brand does indicate that the car has to go about 600 kilometers on one battery charge. The P5, which will only officially go on sale next year, has a luggage capacity of 450 liters and is equipped with, among other things, what Xpeng calls ‘Xpilot 3.5’, a more extensive version of the autonomous driving system (Xpilot 3.0) that is in the P7. .

Xpeng presents the P5 with, among other things, a ‘theater mode’ and a ‘sleep mode’. For example, the chairs must be able to fold completely flat to be able to take a nap, although everything must also be foldable so that you can watch a movie with your legs forward on a gigantic screen. The P5 has a relatively minimalistic looking dashboard with a large vertical infotainment screen that covers the entire center console. Behind the steering wheel is a digital set of instruments. It is not yet known whether Xpeng will also bring the P5 and P7 to Norway and later to the rest of Europe.
