
Install an extension of Google Translate in the browser Chrome. With this Google translates a text from another language into Dutch in no time.
Extensions
Of course, Chrome works well with Google Translate, as both are from Google. By default, Google Translate asks whether it should translate a page in a foreign language into Dutch. Google Translate is also available as an extension of the Internet program Chrome. An extension is an extension of the browser. He adds an option to the Internet program.
Google Translate extension
Install the Google Translate extension in the following way:
- Surf to the installation page of the Google Translate extension.
- Click on the blue button add on Chrome.
- click on Add extension.
- The extension will be installed. A message appears in the top right-hand corner that the installation was successful. To the right of the address/search bar is the Google Translate icon.
- In Chrome, click on the three dots at the top right.
- click on Institutions.
- Click in the menu on the left Advanced.
- click on Languages.
- Click on the three dots behind Dutch.
- Put a tick in front of Offer to translate pages in this language.
- Click on the cross of the tab at the top to close it.
Set up the extension
- In Chrome, right-click on the Google Translate icon or the Extensions icon (a puzzle piece).
- Click on the three dots behind Google Translate > Options.
- Click on the option Show popup immediately.
- click on Save.
- Close the tab via the cross at the top right.
Translate whole page
Google Translate can be put to work in several ways. Translate a whole page like this:
- You are visiting a web page. The language does not appear to be Dutch.
- Click on the Google Translate icon to the right of the address/search bar. Or click on the Extensions icon (a puzzle piece) and then Google Translate.
- Enter the link of the page you want to translate and click Translate this page.
- Click again Translate this page.
Google translates the text directly into Dutch.
Translate piece of text
Do you want to know the meaning of a piece of text on the internet? That’s how it works:
- For example, go to the article on Nu.nl: ‘Labor leader Corbyn apologizes for historic election defeat‘.
- The message includes an English-language tweet from Labor leader Corbyn. Click on that.
- Jeremy Corbyn’s twitter page opens. Select the English text.
The Dutch translation appears immediately. If not, after selecting the text, right click on the selected text > Google Translate.
