Autoland is a special place where strange models and, if possible, even wackier test cars turn up every now and then. The lengthy Cadillac featured in this article clearly falls into the latter category.
The Cadillac XT5, presented in 2015, is an SUV that, with its length of 4.82 meters, is just a bit shorter than known peers like the BMW X5. The successor to the SRX is certainly not a small boy, but we have not seen the XT5 before as long as the test sample that has now surfaced!
Our spy photographer has received a version of the XT5 extended to a ‘limo’ in front of the lens. The test model has an extra set of doors between the front and rear ones. The whole looks as if a hobbyist has welded a piece to the body of the XT5 himself, but the truth is undoubtedly different. It is not entirely clear what exactly Cadillac is testing here. It is not inconceivable that the brand will come with a version of the XT5 intended for ‘VIP transport’, which of course has a much better finish in its final form. It is also possible that the brand is trying out pure new technology under the skin. Whatever the Americans are planning, it will at least provide interesting footage.
