What are Passkeys?

Passkeys are a kind of digital login keys. You can use it to log in to your Facebook account in the same way if you do on your iPhone. Because the login data is never sent or stored, Passkeys are extremely difficult to steal or mimic, not even via phishing.

The functions for Passkeys has been on iPhones since iOS 17. You can see your stored passkeys in the Passkeys section of the password app.

These are the most important benefits of passkeys

So there are quite a few benefits to the use of passkeys. These are the three most important benefits.

Safer than regular passwords on Facebook

Passwords are vulnerable to hackers, brutal-force attacks and data breaches. Passkeys are much better protected because they are unique and device bound.

In addition, it is also safer when you use a public WiFi connection, for example. You don’t have to worry that your password will be intercepted, because they will never be sent via the WiFi network.

Less chance of phishing

With phishing, scammers send you to fake sites to find out your password. A passkey only works on the real Facebook site. Phishings sites do not have access to your secure key.
