Today passenger car versions of delivery vans most closely approach the concept of the increasingly rare MPV. Autoland is now such a practical space giant richer. Fiat dusts off the model name Ulysse and sticks it on the back of the passenger car version of the brand new company car Scudo. In contrast to the Scudo, the new Ulysse only comes on the market with an electric powertrain.

Fiat recently pulled the model name Scudo from mothballs. The new Fiat Scudo is in fact the successor of the Fiat Talento. Where the Talento was in fact little more than Fiat’s version of the then current Opel Vivaro, the new Scudo is the Fiat variant of the Stellantis van that you already know in many flavors. The Scudo also comes with a passenger car version that gets an old model name from Fiat. We are introduced to the E-Ulysse.

First generation Fiat Ulysse

Like its brothers, the Fiat E-Ulysse is available with both a 50 kWh and 75 kWh battery pack. Regardless of the chosen battery pack, you have a 136 hp and 260 Nm strong electric motor. With the largest battery, the E-Ulysse can travel up to 330 kilometers. The top speed of the electric space giant is 130 km/h. If you have run out of battery, then thanks to a charging capacity of up to 100 kW, you can fully charge up to 80 percent of its capacity with electricity in 45 minutes.

Second generation Fiat Ulysse

Fiat supplies the E-Ulysse as a seven-seater version called ‘Living Room’ and has a version with space for eight people on the menu called Shuttle. In both versions, the rear seats are on rails. They are not only movable, but also removable. The shortest variant of the E-Ulysse extends over a distance of 4.95 meters, the longest version kicks it up to 5.3 meters.

Model name Ulysse was used by Fiat for two MPVs. The first Fiat Ulysse was a brother of the Peugeot 806, Citroën Evasion and Lancia Zeta and the second Ulysse was a relative of the C8, 807, Phedra. Those Eurovans no longer exist and the name Ulysse has been on the shelves for a long time. In 2022, the name Ulysse will return as an all-electric E-Ulysse. As you would have expected by now, it is the passenger car version of the Scudo and that makes it Fiat’s equivalent of the Peugeot Traveller, Citroën SpaceTourer, Opel Zafira Life and Toyota Proace Verso.

The new Fiat E-Ulysse will arrive in the Netherlands at the end of this year. Prices will follow in the run-up to the market launch.
