Flooding in Imola: F1 not to circuit today

It is starting to look more and more like there will be no Grand Prix at Imola this weekend. The staff of the Formula 1 teams have since been ordered not to come to the circuit today due to flooding in the area.

Unfortunately, it appears that code red has rightly been issued for the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy. After extreme rainfall from the beginning of this week, flooding has occurred in several places. The circuit in Imola where Formula 1 should drive the Emilia-Romagna GP next weekend has also not kept its feet dry. For example, the Formula 2 paddock is standing partly under water and there is still the threat of the river Santerno next to the circuit, which stands very high. Even if it were to stay dry on the track, there would still be problems in the area. So would this photo of a flooded street have been made from the hotel where Red Bull staff are staying.

At the time of writing, there is not yet a formal statement from Formula 1 about whether or not the race weekend will take place. However, according to various insider F1 journalists, the teams and other F1 personnel have now been ordered not to come to the circuit today. That while Wednesday is normally the day that everything is built up. The race weekend is already being delayed and given the consequences of the floods, the concession is that one dry day will not suddenly solve the problems. Rain is also expected for the weekend itself. More would become clear later today.
