Ford has added a new and coolly dressed version of the Ranger to its delivery range. It concerns the Ranger Storm, a version for which no mountain seems too high. However, there is a caveat.
A quick look back. In 2018, Ford showed the Ranger Storm Concept at the São Paulo International Motor Show, a preview of an adventurously dressed Ranger with a well-known addition to its model name. Earlier that year, Ford already moved the EcoSport Storm forward. The Ranger Storm that is on the digital shelves today is the production version of the study model presented two years ago.
To start with the bad news: the Ranger Storm is only intended for the South American market. In fact, Ford also seems to put the Ranger Storm on the price list only in Brazil. The Ranger Storm always has the most powerful diesel engine Ford provides in the pickup under the hood. This means that a 200 hp and 470 Nm 3.2-liter TDCi diesel distributes its power to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Like the concept car, and the EcoSport Storm, the Ranger Storm has a prominent plastic grille in which the designation ‘Storm’ is displayed. The Ranger benefits from plastic wheel arch edges that are additionally turned on and spray paints such as the running boards, wheels, the rear bracket and the side mirror caps in black. The Ranger Storm stands on special all-terrain tires and is optionally available with a snorkel so that even deep puddles are easily fordable. As mentioned, the Ranger Storm remains in South America and – as far as we know – even only in Brazil.
