Would you rather watch Formula 1 for free? That is possible, but then you have to settle for German commentary. You can watch Formula 1 for free on the German RTL. And that’s great, because RTL Deutschland is included in the free channel package with most providers.

The Formula 1 races can be viewed for free via the German RTL in 2024, as can all qualifying sessions. The broadcast of the first Formula 1 race (in Bahrain) starts on Friday, March 1 at 4:30 PM. Half an hour later is the qualifying. On Saturday the preview starts at 3:00 PM and the race starts at 4:00 PM.

German RTL is available on Ziggo, KPN and Caiway via the following channels:

Formula 1 times: this is when the races start

The Formula 1 season will have a huge number of races in 2024: 24 in total. The season kicks off in Bahrain, where the first Grand Prix of the season starts on March 2.

The first free training has already started on Thursday, February 29 at 12:30 Dutch time. But you can enjoy Formula 1 all weekend long. The schedule for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is as follows.

Thursday February 29

  • First free practice – 12:30 Dutch time
  • Second free practice – 4:00 PM Dutch time

Friday March 1

  • Third free practice – 1:30 PM Dutch time
  • Qualifying – 5:00 PM Dutch time

After that, the next Grand Prix is ​​on March 9 at 6:00 PM Dutch time. This is the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The first free practice will be on Thursday, March 7 at 2:30 PM with the second free practice at 6:00 PM. The third free practice will then take place on Friday, March 8 at 2:30 PM and qualifying at 6:00 PM.
