Now also on the inside

Genesis has brought one of its most acclaimed study models of recent years to the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach. We already know the concept car, but not yet the interior of the car!
In April this year, Genesis presented the X Speedium CoupĂ©, an evolution of the X Concept unveiled a year earlier. The Genesis X Speedium CoupĂ© received a classic-modern body from Hyundai’s luxury brand, complete with the well-known striped Genesis lighting and remarkably few external frills. At the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach, Genesis opened the doors of the show car, so we can now get a first look at the interior.

Like the exterior of the Genesis X Speedium CoupĂ©, the interior was also created under the direction of none other than Luc Donckerwolke. Donckerwolke and his design team have also made the Genesis workplace something special. We see a somewhat classical-looking dashboard that flows smoothly into the doors. It is striking that little or nothing happens directly in front of the co-driver, because the dashboard mainly consists of a part aimed at the driver with a striking connecting piece between the center tunnel and the roof of the instrumentation. The instrumentation itself is of course completely digital and consists of a curved OLED screen. Genesis describes the combination of modern elements and classic design as ‘newtro’
According to Genesis, the X Speedium CoupĂ© was initially intended as an internal design study, although the Koreans decided to actually present the model at the beginning of this year. Like existing cars of the brand, the concept car is designed according to Genesis’ Athletic Elegance design language. Genesis does not speak about production plans and so it seems that the X Speedium CoupĂ© will never outgrow the conceptual phase. However, it seems that Genesis will pour over its future EVs with a similar design.
Would you like to see a production version of the Genesis X Speedium Coupé? Why or not?
