Google One VPN is now available for your iPhone

Looking for a reliable VPN service? Google One VPN is now available for your iPhone. This makes surfing safer and protects your privacy. However, an important function is missing. Read more about this protected connection in this article.

VPN with Google One’s premium plan

Google had announced it for some time, but has now rolled out its own VPN service for iOS. If you would like to access the internet on your iPhone with a secure connection, the Google One VPN is recommended. The VPN service is part of Google’s Google One subscription.

Google One is an alternative to Apple’s iCloud, but in the Google ecosystem. With this you can store all your emails, photos and other files online for a tenner a month. Now Google has also added a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to the 2 TB subscription (or higher). This is similar to iCloud’s Private Relay feature, which you pay about the same for.

A VPN purely for secure internet

However, an important function is missing from the new VPN service of the Google One subscription. Most VPN services can make it look like you’re from another country in order to watch all TV series and movies that are not available in the Netherlands.

The Google One VPN does not have this feature. The emphasis of this virtual private network is really on the safe use of the internet. Afraid that Google itself will do something with all that data? There’s no reason to, as Google One’s VPN is “open source.” This means that anyone can view and verify the code.

Other features of Google One VPN

Other features of the VPN from Google One include ‘Safe Disconnect’, which allows the Internet to work only when the feature is turned on, and ‘App Bypass’. With the latter it is possible to use some iOS apps on your iPhone via the regular internet connection.
