The Pixel Tablet is a new tablet from Google. Nothing special in itself, but this tablet has a cool feature that even Apple can learn from.
Google Pixel Tablet has a very special feature
Google has officially presented its Pixel Tablet. The tablet is for sale in the Netherlands from the end of June for 679 euros. In itself, the tablet from Google is a very neat tablet for that price: it is very similar to the iPad 2022 and comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space
However, this new tablet does have a very special feature that even Apple can learn from. You get a dock with this tablet. Now that doesn’t sound very special, but there is more to it.
You can snap the Google Pixel Tablet magnetically to this dock. This turns the tablet into a kind of Google Nest Hub. There is even a speaker in the dock that gives you better sound than comes standard from the tablet. You also use the dock to charge the device (but you can also do so via a USB-C cable).
Apple Home hub
Apple can learn a lot from this. Because how cool would it be to click your iPad on a HomePod 2023 or the HomePod mini? And in this way turn your iPad into a kind of hub for the Home app. There is one bright spot, though: Apple is rumored to be already working on it…
It would be great if Apple would include a kind of special HomePod (mini) with a new iPad. The current iPad 2022 has a suggested retail price of 589 euros. A HomePod mini costs about 100 euros on average. For the price of a Google’s tablet, Apple could easily make a similar product. In any case, we eagerly await.
