These new features of Gemini instantly make Google TV a lot smarter: this is what you can expect from it in the short term.
Google TV is getting much smarter
Google has on the CES 2026 let’s see how Gemini makes Google TV even smarter. Here’s what the company announced:
- Explore your favorite topics through a new framework. Gemini’s answers to your questions are adapted there with images and videos. For complex topics, ‘Deep dives’ provide interactive overviews with commentary.
- Use Gemini to search your Google Photos library for specific people. Apply artistic styles with Photos Remix or transform memories into immersive slideshows.
- Usage Nano Banana to reimagine your personal photos or display original media directly on your TV.
- Skip complicated settings menus by using natural language. Tell Gemini ‘the screen is too dark’ or ‘the dialogue cannot be understood’ to adjust the picture and sound. This works without you having to leave the movie or program first.
Gemini’s new features will be added to Google TV sometime in the coming months.
Apple TV and Apple Intelligence
We expect Apple to soon add Apple Intelligence support to the Apple TV 4K. That’s no surprise, as Apple is gradually adding AI to all products. Although Apple Intelligence originally only supported iPhones, iPads and Macs, the Vision Pro also received it last year and watchOS 26 now also brings it to the Apple Watch.
If Apple Intelligence support is indeed coming to the new Apple TV 4K, this could mean the following for the TV viewing experience:
- Request information afterwards about music from each part of a film.
- Personalized recommendations based on your current mood.
- Jump to different scenes with a short description.
