Gordon Murray Automotive is sticking to V12 and electrifies

The Gordon Murray Group is going to expand considerably. The company will invest nearly € 350 million over the next five years. That money will go to, among other things, the development of an electric platform and Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA), which is working on new models.

With Gordon Murray Electronics, an important new division has been created within the Gordon Murray Group. This department will be involved in the development of lightweight electric platforms and powertrains. This technology is not only for own use, but Murray also wants to supply other car manufacturers. In time, Gordon Murray Automotive will also come up with hybrid and electric models, but at the same time the company says it will stick to the V12 “as long as the rules allow.”

GMA T.50

The T.50 and the more track-focused T.50s are currently GMA’s only two models. What the next model of the car manufacturer will look like is not yet clear, but the role of the Cosworth V12 from the aforementioned models does not seem to be over yet. Exclusivity is also guaranteed, because no more than 100 copies of each model are built. According to the British EVO GMA is currently working on a cheaper supercar under the name ‘Project Two’. That model should be a bit simpler in design, which will probably also lower the price. Before you put your piggy bank to an end, it is expected that the new model will still have to yield an amount with seven figures. Let’s just say everything is relative.

Cheaper EVs

Incidentally, it will also take a while before the new GMA model is available. After all, the T.50 will not go into production until next year and will be built at the new headquarters of the Gordon Murray Group in Windlesham, England. In addition, Gordon Murray Design, another division of the group, is currently working with Gordon Murray Electronics on a lightweight architecture for EVs. This development is at an early stage. It is not yet clear what a possible own EV of the group would look like. Murray already showed two years ago with the Motiv where it could possibly go.
